774 students present 372 research projects
With spring finally here, Colorado Mesa University enters into student research season with student projects culminating at the Fourteenth Annual Student Showcase on Friday, April 28.
The Student Showcase occurs every year and is one of the defining moments in a student’s academic career. The showcase is open to all students on all campuses and emphasizes the unique opportunity undergraduates have to complete their own extensive research.
“This year's Student Showcase will be the grandest in our fourteen-year history, featuring both the largest number of student projects and the largest number of student presenters ever. I believe this is testament to the fact that the CMU faculty do an incredible job involving their students in both undergraduate and graduate level research. The Student Showcase offers a wonderful opportunity for CMU and WCCC students to showcase the culmination of their hard work,” said CMU Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs for Faculty Success Chad Middleton, PhD.
This year, 774 students submitted 371 projects, which is a 23% increase on projects from last year. Also new this year, CMU’s Career Services team has created the Reverse Job Fair, so employers can attend the showcase, meet students and interview them in real-time.
The goal of showcase is to celebrate the creativity, research, innovation, entrepreneurship and artistic performance of CMU/WCCC students from all of the campuses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The community is welcome to attend and enjoy the projects scattered all around campus from 12-5pm, as is media.
